The beginning of the year is always slow for most natural light photographers. For me, it’s slower in terms of shooting, but I’m usually super busy planning and organizing my year.
This year, the first quarter was a huge time of growth for me and Sara-Anne Photography. It was a season that was not always fun, but the growing pains were really needed. I learned three very important lessons that I hope I don’t have to go around the mountain again to learn. I’ve realized that there are seasons that we all go through…times of pruning (not fun) times of blooming (usually fun) and times of growing deep roots (waiting). It’s hard when you are in those seasons to embrace them…it’s hard to see the fruit and the beauty that is happening in the going deep, the pruning stages. It’s hard to let things happen so that the beauty can come. I have been in a season of growing deep, of waiting, I know that there are big things coming down the pike, I know that there are some big things in the making, and I have to be patient (something that is so hard for me) as the plans grow, as a business I have to prepare and make sure all is in place before things move forward (and so hard for me). I feel like I’m in the summer of my business…A time of feeding, watering, and eliminating pests and weeds that could inhibit growth. This is a time for me to nurture what I have already and making sure it’s ready for the harvest. Does all this resonate with you? It may not be in your business, but it could be in relationship or your job. Seasons are just a part of life and we need to embrace each of them as they are all a necessity for life and more importantly growth! I’ll be sharing more about seasons in the next few days…and no matter where you are, I think they are tools and tips that can benefit anyone!
