At the southern end of the North Carolina coast is another favorite spot we travel to often for beach sessions. Ocean Isle, NC is just a tad south of Holden Beach and a short drive from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, SC. It too is a quiet spot, perfect for family gatherings and those hoping to enjoy the simple pleasures of a beach vacation.
The beautiful beaches of southern NC speak for themselves but if you want to venture out for something else those options can be found on Ocean Isle as well.
A few of our favorites include…
- The Swamp Park Eco Adventure Zip-Line Park: Here you can experience the area with a guided zip-line tour, or a climb through the Aerial Adventures park, or just relax and enjoy the Shallotte River on our swamp boat tour. The park is a great mixture of adventure and ecological education.
- Ingram Planetarium and the Museum of Coastal Carolina: Located just a short drive at Sunset Beach the planetarium is open daily with several show options. If that’s not your thing the Museum of Coastal Carolina offers weekly Turtle Talks, free with admission, these talks are held every Monday at 3:30 PM.
- Ghost Walk Tours: A mixture of history and lore but not too scary for older children is a fun way to get to know more about the area. These tours are offered nightly through the summer months

I’m sharing a beach session from last fall, my fall was so incredibly busy and I had a bunch of health issues, so I have many sessions that I haven’t had a chance to share, but that’s all coming to an end!
This sweet family met me at Ocean Isle Pier and we were able to capture the generations including two beautiful granddaughters!
