It’s been a whirlwind the last few days, trying to get a whole bunch of things crossed off my to-do list. I feel like you could call me “Hallmark” as I’ve been busy designing so may albums and graduation announcements! I love May, but I also think May is the busiest month of all! It’s proms, graduations, mother’s day, end of school, teacher appreciation and so much more! We’ve just about wrapped up school for our kiddos and I have to say, I’m welcoming the summer schedule.
I have piles of laundry to be folded (it’s clean..just never gets folded) I have boxes that need to be put in the attic, my pantry is a mess and I bought a whole bunch of herbs that I still have not planted. This is my life dear friends. It’s organized chaos at it’s best. I was talking with a dear friend the other day and I told him, I don’t believe in balance…there’s nothing that fits my world that is balanced. If I try to do that, then I end up so disappointed and frustrated. So I just have to live in the way that my life is. That doesn’t mean that I don’t strive to not work 80% of the time or that I look for rest and down times. I do! But it means that it’s not 50/50…there are times when work is 80/20 but there are also times when family is 100%. Balance is just a buzz word and I think we as women often put so much pressure to lead this life…but I think it’s nearly impossible!
So this weekend I will be shooting family sessions, heading to a soccer tournament, sending one off to NYC for a week, and heading off to begin 3 days of beach sessions! All along my piles of laundry, the pantry, the boxes will all just stay put and I’m okay with this!
I met this beautiful senior on a warm breezy spring day! Her hair and make up done perfectly by my dear friend Katy at Katy Lynn Beauty and it’s such a fun story! You see, I use to work with her lovely mom at Archivers in Raleigh (where I actually first began my photography career) so yes we are talking about 10 years ago. At that time she and I were both teaching scrapbooking and stamping and even more funny she was my daughters preschool director. Fast forward 10 years and her graduating senior was looking for a photographer, came upon my website and wala…reunited! What a fun session! Sarah is just stunning and you will see from her images that her gorgeous eyes just sparkle! Then, I asked do you mind if we hop in the car and travel a bit…I found this beautiful poppy field that I think would be amazing. Of course they were up for anything and get this…mom is an artist and loves poppies! So much fun! Thank you so much Sarah for allowing me the privilege of capturing this special time! Good luck next year at UNC…you will do awesome!
