Senior Portraits: Senior Picture Photographers Chapel Hill NC

Senior portraits!  They are fun and easy, at least that is what I thought when I began to build my business!  11 years ago when we moved to this small town, seniors were what I wanted to focus on!  I marketed, reach out to, built my portfolio, studied etc all things seniors and it was crickets!  I couldn’t book a senior session to save my life and it was frustrating!  After about 2 years of trying to work that market, I started to ask myself “why?”  Why am I trying to hard for something that doesn’t seem to work?  Why am I trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?  In my area, my clients, my target market wasn’t really ready for Senior Portraits ALA Sara-Anne Photography!  I did a lot of searching!  I asked myself Why did I want to do them so badly?

  • I loved the fact that it boosted confidence
  • I loved that they were focused on one individual, thus me being able to really get to know them, and spending one on one time with an age group that I love
  • I loved seeing the finished product, there is nothing like watching a senior at their ordering session, seeing their faces light up and the realization of how awesome they are
  • I love pampering them (the hair and make up) just makes the whole experience amazing

What I didn’t realize was that my clients were already there!  My seniors were there, just a lot younger!  All my families that I had been photographing over the years, are now seniors and what an awesome progression for my studio!  So if you are struggling to market to you niche or trying to figure out why you aren’t getting the clients you want…hang tight, they are probably right under your nose!

So not only do I get the opportunity to photography clients who have been with me for years, I also get new clients that join the SAP family!  Like this beauty!  I’m shooting her sisters wedding this year, and had the awesome opportunity to photograph their engagement session.  I told their mom that she was going to be sick of my by the end of 2018…a wedding and a graduate, can you even imagine their year this year!  Exciting and stressful all in one!

Amanda was such a trooper!  We had planned way back in the summer her fall senior portrait session!  I scheduled hair and make up and Kara, arrived at her house to do the beautiful job she does!  Then the rain came and we postponed!  Again, Kara came (8:00 am) and she did her thing!  Amanda was ready, but again the rain came…this time we waited it out and I’m so thankful!  Thankful for her flexibility and her laid backness (is that a word?) thankful that the rain did move on, thankful for her mom who chauffeured us all over!  Her session was AWESOME!  Congratulations Amanda, I loved every minute of working with you and wish you all the best in the final months of your senior year at BCA and wherever the Lord takes you next year!
