Happy Saturday and Merry Christmas! I’m finally feeling a bit more in the holiday spirit! We’ve had quite the tree saga at my house…we headed to the mountains the weekend of Thanksgiving and bought was was a beautiful but HUGE tree…it was a great fun trip, but when we got home, the tree didn’t fit in our stand, or any stand we could find! So fast forward two weeks, with our beautiful tree just propped up against our garage, we decided it would be cheaper to just buy another tree. We did, it’s another beautiful tree, big (not as big as the first one) but again, it didn’t fit in our stand! So Micah (and can I just say, I’m so thankful for a strong son…the day I was waiting for had arrived, he was big enough to get the ornaments out of the attic and also put the tree up mostly on his strength) sawed it down and we got it in the stand and in the house. Two days later, we decorated it with the help of a 10 ft ladder and over 5,000 lights. Phase one had started, I got all the “basic ornaments” not our sentimental and not the last ones that bring it all together, but enough that it was starting to look decorated. We went to bed that night and at 4 am I heard a crash…I came out and our big beautiful tree and all those lights were on the floor. So once again, Micah and I put it up, picked up all the ornaments and teathered the tree to the wall! What an ordeal! This tree may stay up until Easter! HA!
But this morning, Chris and I went to grab coffee at our favorite spot and deliver a whole bunch of packages that came for clients and came home and the lights were sparkling and my favorite scent burning in a candle (Winter from Bath and Body Works) and I could breath! I tried to remind myself as I put every ornament back on the tree…the ornaments that my kids had made, the names of God ornaments, the ornament that I gave to all the guests at our wedding….all of those I tried to live in the moment and remember what Christmas is really about and why we celebrate. My spirits are bright!
Switching gears a bit, I’m super excited to share this beautiful couples engagement session! It was one of my favorites of the fall! I think that they capture their sweet love, their personality and connection! Congrats Bruno and Madison…can’t wait until 2017 to capture your big day!
Happy Saturday everyone! Make sure to do something that you love with someone you love!
