Why You Should Capture Your Child at Different Life Stages: Chapel Hill Family Photographer

Ive been working this week at completing all the beautiful images from our last teen shoot.  I’m a bit behind, but they are all so beautiful that it makes working overtime worth it!  I realized how important it is to capture your children at different life stages….I thought I’d share a few of my reasons.

Simple…they change so much:  You are with your kids day in and day out…you don’t see the changes from year to year, but they are there.  As a photographer, it’s one of my joys of working with the same families year after year…I see those changes and it’s so much fun for me.  But unless you capture it on film, you don’t.  You don’t realize how much they are growing, you don’t see how beautiful those eyes get as she gets older, you don’t remember certain hair cuts or even their favorite clothes.

Safety:   I know this is kind of a downer, but it’s so important to have current pictures of your kids for safety purposes.  You just never know.  This week our area was frightened by an abduction…it’s so scary!  But having a current picture can help so much!

Your Children will appreciate it:  When your kids are older, they will so appreciate having images from their childhood to share with their family.  It helps jog precious memories in their lives.  They want those.  I can’t tell you how many clients (adults) say to me “I don’t have any pictures of my childhood”  thats so sad and your kids want them…and let me plug…they want them with you in them too.

Builds self-esteem:  It’s so tough being a kid these days…especially with social media, but having great images of your kids makes them feel so good about themselves.  I see it all the time.  I even had a young lady ask her mom as they planned her family session, “am I going to have individuals?” it’s because they love it…they love being able to see themselves on my blog or on social media.  It really builds them!

There you have it…my reasons for having pictures taken regularly of your kids.

I just finished up this sweet girls images…I loved her sense of style…her sweet spirit…it just shined through!  Emily you are beautiful!  Thank you for joining us for the last shoot!  As always, thank you to my second shooter Rachel McConoughey and Katy Doss for her mad hair and make up skills!
