Fine Art vs. Pictures: Burlington NC Photographer, Oak Island Family Pictures

How’s your week going?  Mine is super busy..and I just keep thinking if I can get through until next Wednesday I will be able to breath a bit!  We’ll see!  Between now and then I will photograph:

  • 5 beach sessions
  • 18 dogs (pet mini sessions)
  • A birth
  • A newlywed session
  • and a possible newborn….

I was asked “how do you keep doing it”  AND I just keep meeting amazing families and pray that I can provide them with the most amazing images for them to love and adore for years…and I have amazing family that supports and helps me at every turn!

I have stressed to my clients that I am not just a photographer, but a FINE ART photographer…what does that mean? It means that I truly value the work that I do and see it as art.  I’m an artist.  I went to school and studied art and design, I come from a long lineage of artist, I’ve won numerous awards as an artist (not just a photographer) but art show competitions.  I see things from the artist point of view (which I know is all subjective) but none the less, I really believe that the images I take, should be displayed as art!  Now I’m a realist…and I know that not everyone can take all my pictures and blow them up in canvases and plaster all their walls…but the goal for me as your photographer is to have at least one…hopefully multiple images that you desire to do that with…to tell a story!

The word is out!  I now have clients who book me, specifically knowing that they want the large canvas…(not a 16×20) but a 24×36 or 30×40!  Canvases that will make a statement..that when people come into their home…they say “wow, that is beautiful” and it creates a story to tell, it brings back memories every time you walk by it.  Digitals on a flash drive somewhere, can’t do that.  I know that digitals are important to have for archiving and for sharing online…but in the place where you make a home for your family.  So that’s what a FINE ART photographer is!

As I was editing this image…all I could think of was….If ever there was an image that should be over a fireplace in big canvas…this was it!  The classic white in the dunes on two adorable girls…melt my heart!!!
