6 Tips to Ensure You’ve Picked the Right Outifts for Your Senior Pictures: Chapel Hill, Senior Pictures

We are in the throes of Senior portrait season around the studio and the number one question we get is “what do you recommend they wear”.   So here are failproof tips to make sure you choose the right outfits!

  1. Pick outfits that represent YOU!  So you may see an outfit as you’re scrolling through Instagram, but if it’s not something that you wouldn’t ordinarily wear, keep scrolling.  That doesn’t mean that you can’t have outfits that are a bit special, but if you are not a floral gal, don’t pick a dress with big flowers.  If you are a dude and you never wear a coat and tie, certainly don’t bring them for your senior session.
  2. Think about the details:  Like do I have the right undergarments, will this make me look my best (meaning if you are worried about your weight, make sure you have clothing that fits you) is everything ironed (if not, we have one at the studio) Do I have socks? all the little details make sure that the outfits you pick will look flawless
  3. Have a good variety:  Its always nice to have a variety of looks in your proofs, we’ll typically head to different locations so having something a bit dressier to super casual is a great idea.
  4. Think texture:  Textures and layers always look great in photos.  (boho, button-downs with t-shirts, flowy maxi dresses, torn jeans etc)
  5. Be comfortable:  If you’re comfortable, we have so much more flexibility with where we can go and what we can do.  It will come through in your shots if you are uncomfortable so just keep that in mind.
  6. Be modest:  This is mostly for my girls, but please make sure your shorts are not too short or your shirt too low…we want your daddy to be happy 🙂

Follow those tips and you will be great!

I had the opportunity to work with this young lady recently!  She was a bright light with a smile that just lit up any space we went to.  She’s moving through this senior year with grit and grace and has such a future ahead of her!  Thank you Bri for allowing us to capture your class of 2021 senior pictures!  We wish you all the best as you finish out your senior year!
